Contemporary Interpretation of Primitive Worship

The Chinese title of my work is “入世山水”. “入世” means worldly, and “山水” (Shan Shui) is a word with multiple meanings. It is the composition of two words—mountain and water, which refers to the Chinese landscape painting and landscapes. It implies an attitude away from the secular world. Folk beliefs in Taiwan are rather worldly and close to people’s daily life. However in modern days, Temples are often excluded from city by urban planning regulations. My work tries to bring the temple back into the city, combining contemporary urban life with the potential risks of nature through folk belief.
