A series of vases with a new and up to date interpretation of the water jug

The project emphasizes leather as a natural raw material, focusing on the feature of the leather to soften when wet and harden in the way it was applied. This technique is called "Wet Forming", tracing the ancient craft of tanners. There is a visual resemblance, in color and texture between leather and pottery. Both were used in ancient times as basic raw materials for everyday objects. The Vases carry a new interpretation of the ‘water jug’ as an object of the 2000’s. The Vases cannot contain water and conceptually treat the leather, according to our period, as a luxury display object.
