The Classic of Mountains and Seas is an illustrated book of an eponymous scripts translated to English. It is considered a very important ancient source of Chinese mythology. Despite it was perceived as a geography textbook for many centuries (the content is monotonous, with no plot), it is as well full of fanciful informations, strange and fascinating. Intention of my thesis is to introduce a part of this intriguing literary work in the form of illustrated book and spread awareness about forgotten mythological and cultural source. It is inspired by medieval depiction of exotic animals.
