The story beneath my fingers
An educational aid for blind children to learn Braille
I chose the topic Design for disadvantaged people and created a tool for blind children to practice Braille. It helps with Braille cell orientation, understanding prepositions, fine motor skills, tactile perception, and learning new words. Children learn playfully with characters from O veliké řepě. The set has six figures, two boards with six holes, and a tactile turnip. Figures attract children with low vision or full sight. I made a plastic version using a 3D printer and a wooden one on a CNC lathe and consulted with Raná péče Sluníčko.
