I knew that our family's story had been resonating with me for a long time. People often ask where we come from and I find it difficult to find a concise answer. What principles do each of us honor and how much are we determined by the culture, stories and traditions we grow up with? The book In the Land of Earth Apples was written to expose the informal side of the Volhynian Czech community from Ukraine who re-migrated to the Czech Republic in the 1990s after the Chernobyl explosion.
